International Technical Report ISO/IEC was prepared by the Joint Technical Committee ISO/IEC JTC1, Information Technology, Subcommittee SC7 . This paper analyzes the applicability and relevance of internal quality measures presented and published in ISO/IEC standard for software quality. ISO/IEC Software engineering — Product quality was an international standard for the evaluation of software quality. It has been replaced by ISO/IEC.

An external metric is a quantitative scale and measurement method, which can be used for measuring an attribute or characteristic of a software product, derived from the behaviour of the system of which it is a part. Attributes of software that bear on the effort needed for diagnosis of deficiencies or causes of failures, or for identification of parts to be modified. Attributes of software that bear on opportunity and effort using it in the place of specified other software in the environment of that software.
Quality-in-use metrics are only available when the final product is used in real conditions. Attributes of software that bear on its ability to maintain a specified level iwo performance in case of software faults or of infringement of its specified interface.
This standard stems from the GE model for describing software quality, presented in by McCall et al. Software product is defined in a broad sense: Attributes of software that bear on the opportunity for 912-63 adaptation to different specified environments without applying other actions or means than those provided for this purpose for the software considered.
As a result, the notion of user extends to operators as well as to programmers, which are users of components such as software libraries. Attributes of software that bear on the effort needed to install the software in a specified environment.
Internal metrics are applicable to a non executable software product during designing and coding in early stage of development process.
Views Read Edit View history. Attributes of software that bear on the presence and appropriateness of a set of functions for specified tasks. Attributes of software that make the software adhere to application related standards or conventions or regulations in laws and similar prescriptions.
The subcharacteristics have been moved from the annex to become part of the standard. List of International Electrotechnical Commission standards.
Compared kec”security” and “compatibility” were added as main characteristics. There is also a definition of quality in use which defines the user’s view as a result of using the software. They have been reworded and several new ones added.
Information technology – Software Product Evaluation – Quality characteristics and guidelines for their use – These biases include changing priorities after the start of a project or not having any clear definitions of “success”. Attributes of software that bear on the amount of resource used and the duration of such use in performing its function. Quality characteristics and subcharacteristics.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Attributes of software that bear on the effort needed for modification, fault removal or for environmental change. Attributes are not defined in the standard, as they vary between different software products. An attribute is an entity which can be verified or measured in the software product.
ISO/IEC – Wikipedia
Information technology – Software quality characteristics and metrics – Part 3: Attributes of software that bear on its ability to prevent unauthorized access, whether accidental or deliberate, to programs or data.
Information technology – Software quality characteristics and metrics – Part 2: Ideally, the internal quality determines the external quality and external quality determines quality in use.
Retrieved from ” https: Attributes of software that bear on response and processing times and on throughput rates in performances its function. Attributes of software that make the software adhere to standards or conventions relating to portability.
ISO has eight product quality characteristics in contrast to ISO ‘s sixand 31 subcharacteristics. The objective of this standard is to provide a framework for the evaluation of software quality.
This part provides external metrics for measuring software quality characteristics. External metrics are applicable to an executable software product during testing or operating in later stage of development and after entering to operation process. Use British English Oxford spelling from January This may be done, for example, by specifying target values for quality metrics which evaluates the degree of presence of quality attributes. An internal metric is a quantitative scale and measurement method, which can be used for measuring jec attribute or characteristic of a software product, derived from the product itself, either direct or indirect it is not derived from measures of the behaviour of the system.
The standard provides a framework for organizations to define a quality model for a software product.
ISO 9126: The Standard of Reference
On doing so, however, it leaves up to each organization the task of specifying precisely its own model. Attributes of software that bear on the capability to re-establish its level of performance and recover the data directly affected in case of a failure and on the time and effort needed for it.
Information technology – Software quality characteristics and metrics – Part 1: It defines six product quality characteristics and in an annex provides a suggestion of quality subcharacteristics.
This part provides the concepts introduced in the original standard ie a recommended quality model which categorizes software quality in six characteristics, which are further sub-divided into subcharacteristics. The current standard is under review. This part provides internal metrics for measuring software quality characteristics.
